The Murals of the Normal School of Santiago

The building that houses this school declared as a national historical monument, you must contemplate the facade of this center, is where the teachers of Panama are formed.

The facade of the building, located in the city of Santiago, is of a plateresque style with columns adorned by effigies of queens and sculptural nudes. On the walls of the main hall, you can admire some murals created by Roberto Lewis, one of the greatest Panamanian painters. To the left of the room, the master painted “The Discovery of Fire,” “The Code of Hammurabi,” “The Egyptian Scribe,” “The Martyrs of Golgotha,” “Nicolaus Copernicus,” and “The Modern Era.”

Renowned for its allegories, Lewis also painted “The Birth of the Dawn”, in the frame. In addition you will be able to appreciate “The Holocaust of the Race and the Indigenous Nobility”, that presents a scene in which indigenous princesses are transported in berths loaded by slaves.
