Best Surf Spot in Panama

Ride the best wave!

Almost every country in the region will tell you that it has the best wave, but none can tell you that you can surf the Caribbean in the morning and then ride a wave in the afternoon in the Pacific, this can only happen in Panama. We want to share with you the Best Surf Spot in Veraguas.

Panama has waves all year round, both side Caribean and Pacific coast, and has many offshore islands to be explored. It doesn’t matter if you are a rookie or an experienced surfer, you will find some amazing surf spots in Panama.

Whether you like point breaks, beach breaks, hollow tubes, or long peelers, Panama has various surf breaks to accommodate your style.

As a tropical location, you don’t need a wetsuit on our warm coats

We have a wet tropical climate with very warm water (average 27-30° Celsius) and similar temperatures all year round.

Panama is still a virgin, and you can access most of the best surf spots by yourself and there are not crowded.

Best time to surf in Panama

On the Pacific Coast side, located on the south coast, is better from April to October (wet season), that’s when the strong 3-12 ft South or Southwest swells are more consistent and produce the best waves.

On the Caribbean, the north shore has two major seasons. One from December to April (dry season). That’s when the big hurricane season happens to send massive swells (4-12 ft) to the coastal islands of the Bocas del Toro. The second season is shorter and it’s from July to August. You don’t have to worry about tides for these spots since the Caribbean ocean does not have much fluctuation in the wave.
