For over a century Coiba Island and surrounding waters were off-limits to the public during the penal colony and military presence.
Today the area is under the protection and was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO the extensive reef systems, healthy shark populations, and migrant cetaceans, the waters around Coiba are a treasure of the Eastern Tropical Pacific making Coiba the best place for snorkeling and diving!
