San Pablo River born in the mountains of Tabasará, in the northern part of the province of Veraguas, running for more than 80 km until the mouth in the Gulf of Montijo.
The river is one of the largest rivers in Veraguas, at its mouth join with Gulf of Montijo characterized by the biodiversity  of species that inhabit it.

History

During the pre-columbian era the natives called it Tabarabá River, because when it rained the river grew so much that it destroyed everything in its path, making strange noises to which they responded “sonare sonare” which give rise to the name of one of the main towns through which this river passes, the Village of Soná.  This river is of great importance to livestock and agriculture in the region.

Activities

The tour through the mouth and upstream is a relaxing activity, you can observe the wildlife and plants (mangrove trees, crocodiles, seabirds and howler monkeys) is also possible during the tour.
Of course it is fantastic for sport fishing, has hundreds of fishing spots where insurance will have the opportunity to raise your adrenaline, snappers, snook and sea bass abound in the area.
When you sailing through the river estuary  you will be surrounded by mangroves which contrast as you advance along the river with unparalleled view of the banks and the savannah vegetation.
The best time to observe wildlife is very early in the morning and at dusk (in the case of birds and monkeys), and to observe crocodiles it would usually be at low tide and during sunny days or large patches of young crabs in the rainy season.
In Puerto Cabimo at Rio de Jesús Village, there is a vantage point that will allow you to enjoy the scenic beauty of the mangroves, there is even a small hotel, of the same name, where you can stay and have more time to get to know the area.
