Panama is considered a paradise for sport fishing, including inshore and offshore, in fact, one of the possible meanings of the word “Panama” is an abundance of fish and butterflies. We have more than 250 fishing records worldwide, more than anywhere in the world, among the main saltwater species, are sailfish, wahoo, and marlin.
The south coast of Panama in Veraguas has good weather conditions almost all year and multiple natural landscapes, which allows considerable alternatives to practice fishing.
On surrenders of Coiba National Park, lovers, and amateurs of this sport have a long coastline with abundant marine fauna every month of the year. Here, fishing becomes an exceptional sport because the species that can be caught are exotic and coveted.
Sportfishing is an activity with a recreational purpose. To protect our resources, we offer catch-and-release fishing.
We are sport fishermen and know that one day in Coiba is not enough, so we recommend our fishing options for multiple days. We can certainly offer you an option that meets your requirements and needs.

There may well be other remote, tropical areas that provide a better blend of inshore and offshore fishing than Coiba National Park including Hannibal Bank, large populations and a wide variety of fish make fishing the reefs and banks in and near a year-round activity.
Fishing around Isla Coiba also offers the unforgettable experience of passing by uninhabited islands, and many wildlife reserves, with white sand beaches that run into deep jungle habitats. This is also a world-renowned scuba diving destination thanks to conservation laws that are in place to protect local marine life.
The Coiba National Park (Parque Nacional Coiba) was formed in 1992, which is comprised of Coiba and 38 small islands by an enormous army of cubera snapper and roosterfish and the water surrounding them covering an area of 270,125 hectares to frequent and potentially huge wahoo, mahi mahi and yellowfin tuna. It is managed by the Ministry of Environment (MIAMBIENTE) to whom visiting boats need to apply for licenses to enter (per person) and to fish (per boat).
The area is best known for its offering of black marlin and yellowfin tuna, which are best caught from December through April along with blue marlin, pacific sailfish, and dorado. Other offshore species like roosterfish, grouper, blackfin tuna, swordfish, wahoo, and snapper thrive in the region. In contrast, inshore species like blue trevally, Sierra mackerel, rainbow runners, jack crevalle, and several types of tuna can be found thriving in estuaries and mangrove swamps year-round.
The east side of Coiba from Rancheria Island south through Bahia Damas often offers smooth waters where large snapper, snook, and jacks can be enticed by fly fishing techniques.
Our boats have a maximum capacity of 7 adults comfortably seated. With enough space to move around and walk during the entire trip. However when it comes to fishing, things change, for safety and to have enough space to fight with the fish, the groups are not more than 4 fishermen.
Most of our clients have some experience, however, it is not necessary to have fished before, you can count on us to teach you the basic techniques and make your day an unforgettable adventure. It is also important to mention that we provide all necessary equipment, without any additional charge.
Usually our clients want to take advantage of the first rays of the sun, that is why our departure time, from El Bongo de Montijo, totally depends on the customer. We recommend leaving at 6:30 am, to have more time available for the activity. Well the elders say, “He who gets up early, God helps him.”
We have many fishing spots at Coiba National Park. We will spend all day moving from one place to another in search of action some of Wahoo Rock, Iglesias, Baja 20.
We will pause for lunch and take the strength to continue fishing. We suggest bringing your own fruit, sandwiches or a light lunch. For a small fee, we can take care of that.
Depending on the tides and weather conditions and the wishes of the clients, we can continue fishing in the afternoon.
After a day of fishing, you only have to return to our starting point and arrive at safe harbor.
