The legends say Panama means, in the indigenous language, an abundance of butterflies, others said it’s because of plentiful fish.
In Panama, the fishing possibilities are endless, when a season of one species ends, you have another season that hardly begins. Fishing is good for beginners, enthusiasts, and the most demanding fisherman.

The big pelagics (Black and Blue Marling and Pacific Sailfish) will find them more easily in the first months of the year
The yellowfin tunas visit us when cold currents reach our coasts from May, the coveted wahoo likes it when the rains are strongest between August and December.
Almost year-round, with some luck, we will able to fish other sports fishes like snappers, roosterfish, amberjack, and grouper.
Dolphin Fish also referred to as Mahi-Mahi or Dorado
Fishing Mahi Mahi
Mahi Mahi is found when the currents drag branches and trunk of trees or other floating objects in the rainy months.

“No matter when your holidays are, you will surely have one of our best destinations waiting for you to use your lucky lure again.”

The question is…
Where I go fishing in Panama?
Then I would ask you, What do you want to fish in Panama?
Getting ahead of your answer, if you want big pelagic or yellowfin tuna I would say that Coiba (Banco Hannibal) and Bahia Piñas. If you are looking for offshore action with wahoo, Mahi Mahi, and big snapper or inshore with roosterfish, I would take you to Pedasí, Coiba, and no doubt many spots near the Bay of Panama (Pearl Islands).
If your want quieter and relaxing fishing, I can’t think of another place for river or freshwater fishing than Gulf of Montijo (Mutis) are more than 89 thousand hectares of rivers and mangrove forests with endless fishing spots and a great abundance of fish, well you always have a Gatun Lake as another option, what more exciting than fishing on the banks of the Panama Canal.
